Things I find immense joy in & appreciation for:
singing
dancing
making music
writing poetry • lyrics
playing with clay
torturing myself in the icy cold Scottish waters!
the simplicity of silliness
pondering things deeply {probably too deeply...}
raw authentic human talk
being present and able to appreciate what is happening with great fullness
the spirit of the Inner Child
When I was 5, I tripped and fell on the concrete school playing grounds as I was running round in circles.
I brushed off my grazed knees, looked up to the blue sky, then felt drawn to look directly into the sun.
It was so bright, I immediately closed my eyes.
A very clear question came into my mind, asking - ”What would nothingness look like?”.
The source of this question seemed to have come from outside of myself.
I envisioned the entire universe being a completely dark and empty space, yet was somehow able to reason that even this would still be 'something’…
At the age of 18, I felt quite lost, not having a clear vision of what direction to take in my life.
I decided to enrol into A-Level Art & Design and GCSE Photography at college as these were the subjects I enjoyed the most at school.
I additionally chose to study Higher Psychology, as I have been fascinated with how the human mind works since I was a 3 year old that was aware of my own thoughts and analytical of my own behaviour.
The year after, I applied to do a BA in Fine Art as I felt a pressure to "do something" and it seemed the most logistical next step.
I struggled to decide on a subject to base my work on, though I would impulsively photograph myself in ways which one of my mentors outlined were depicting “the isolation of the Human Condition.”
The art I was producing was very current to my personal struggles I was going through at the time and talking about it with the other students, who were mostly mature, was one of the most valuable experiences of having participated in that course.
Making art for a living never progressed into a career path for me, however, learning and understanding ways to overcome the challenges of being human, has always been something I have longed for and developed a natural desire to help others do the same.
When I began learning about Somatic Coaching, I could not ignore how resonant everything about it felt in my body.
